True Grit Tour – Foundation – Level 2, Part 1 / In Hand Communication

The “True Grit” equine educational program is available to both NEW participants and spectators. You are Welcome to begin your “True Grit” equine education at any tour.

Day One (Feb 3rd/2018)

Session One

Participants will be involved in interactive physical and coordination exercises in order to develop their coordination and improve their horsemanship skills.

Session Two

Participants will review the previous methods learned from Level One of “Discover Horsemanship Philosophy & Methodology in the Round Pen” with their horses. Russ Krachun will review, guide and educate each student separately and help to improve each of the student’s horsemanship skills by working in the round pen using the methodology from Level One “Discover Horsemanship Philosophy & Methodology in the Round Pen”.

Session Three

Russ Krachun will demonstrate and share his philosophy & methodology of “In Hand Communication” with the first six steps and will explain the goals and the benefits of this methodology and how these steps will improve daily routines with the horse.

  • Step # 1 Educate the horse to travel forward consistent in the left and right direction at the walk, trot and lope
  • Step # 2 Educate the horse to travel forward consistently in the left and right direction at the walk, trot and lope
  • Step # 3 Educate the horse to stop, stand still and face you from the walk trot and lope
  • Step # 4 Educate the horse to travel forward at the walk, trot and lope and give to the pressure, stop and stand still
  • Step # 5 Educate the horse to change direction by travelling forward at the walk, trot and lope by giving to the pressure when the horseman is staying still
  • Step # 6 Educate the horse to change direction by travelling forward at the walk, trot and lope by giving to the pressure when the horseman is walking around the arena with the horse.

Session Four

Participants will practice the first six steps of “In Hand Communication”, by using interactive physical and coordination exercises between each other in order to learn and understand the methods first, before working with the horse.

Session Five

Participants will practice and apply the methods of the first six steps of “In Hand Communication” with their horses.

Session Four

Russ Krachun will review and recap the education covered with each of the participants in a group discussion at the end of the day of this “True Grit” Tour. This group session shares information of each individual’s progress and how they may practice and work forward until the next tour date. This open discussion is an important part of team building within the “True Grit” Tour.
