Educational Clinic – Foundation Program

Russ Krachun shares his unconventional philosophy and methodology to develop confidence and trust within the horse’s mind in order for the horse to control his emotions in any environment, in various situations and during various anxieties. Russ explains the importance of understanding your horse’s mental abilities, not just his physical abilities and shares his methodology that includes the use of proper timing and repetition along with periods of relaxation. A confident and trusting mind is essential in order for the horse to perform to the best of his ability.

Day One – July 5/19

Educational Methods:

  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with flag from the left and the right sides of the horse body (walk, trot, and lope)
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with flag in front of the horse body (standing still)
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with flag from left and right sides of the body of the horse (standing still)
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with flag from the horse’s hindquarters (standing still)
  • Educate horse to control fear and emotions and build confidence with flag his front hind legs, rib cage, and hind quarters (standing still)
  • Develop horse confidence with extended touch with the flag from the left side of the horse body, front legs, hind legs, rib cage, and hindquarters
  • Develop horse confidence with extended touch with the flag from the right side of the horse body, front legs, hind legs, rib cage, and hindquarters
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions when travelling forward with noisy obstacles are travelling behind him, or when touching on top of his body (left and right sides at the walk, trot and lope)
  • Educate the horse to travel over noisy obstacles at the walk, trot and lope in the left and the right directions

Day Two – July 6/19

Educational Methods:

  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions when travelling forward, and to stop and stand still on top of noisy obstacles (walk, trot and lope)
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions when travelling forward through loud sounds and noisy obstacles (walk, trot and lope)
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions, develop confidence, and mental abilities, with the sounds of the gun and the bull whip
  • Educate the horse to stand still and control fear and emotions; face the obstacle, when the obstacle is travelling towards him at different speeds
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions, develop confidence and stand still when bridling the horse on both the left and the right sides of his body
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions and stand still when the horseman is saddling the horse with the saddle blanket from the left and the right sides of the horse body
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions and stand still when the horseman is saddling the horse with the saddle on the left and the right sides of the horse’s body
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with all of the horsemanship equipment (tack) by educating the horse to travel forward using the methods from level one “Discover Horsemanship Philosophy & Methodology in the Round Pen” with Step # 1 , 3 , 4, 5, & 6
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions, develop confidence and stand still, when the horseman mounts the horse for the first time from the left and the right sides of his body.
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with the first ride under saddle with the horseman in both the left and right directions at the walk, trot and lope

Day Three – July 7/19

Educational Methods:

  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions when travelling through narrow spaces (walk, trot and lope)
  • Educate the horse control fear and emotions and to stop and stand still between narrow spaces
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions when travelling through narrow spaces with noisy sounds, and obstacles (walk, trot and lope)
  • Develop confidence and trust in the horse mind and body through the horseman’s hands
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with the horsemanship rope in front of the horse body and stand still
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with the horsemanship rope on the left and the right sides of the horse’s body and stand still
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions with the horsemanship rope at the hindquarters and stand still
  • Educate the horse to control fear and emotions when the horseman walks towards the horse in different speeds on both the left and right sides of the horse’s body and stand still
  • Educate the horse control fear and emotions when the horseman is behind the horse with noisy sounds and moving obstacles when the horse is tied, standing still

Participant Information:

  • Each participant should be confident on the ground while working with the horse on the lunge line at various gaits.
  • Participants will receive approximately eighteen hours of Kozak Horsemanship equine educational instruction within the three days of this clinic
  • The participant ticket allows one participant only, no other family member, helper or transporter will be allowed to view clinic.  Spectator tickets are also available to purchase on line for your friends or family.
  • Participants will be required to sign liability waivers, and photography/videography waivers at the clinic
  • Participants who do not have their own horse or chooses not to bring their own horse; may choose to work with a Kozak Horsemanship facility horse.  Please confirm by email rkrachun@yahoo.com that you wish to take advantage of this option.

Equipment Required:

  • A Rope Halter, 15 foot Horsemanship Rope, Lasso, and Wand with string and flag,
  • Helmets are required for each participant.
  • Equipment may be purchased at the Kozak Horsemanship Facility, or participants may choose to rent the “Foundation Kit” which includes all of the required equipment, for a fee of $15.00 plus HST for the duration of the clinic.

 

Participant Horse Information:

  • Beginner horses are welcome at this clinic, but must be safe in hand and be able to lunge in the left and right directions at a walk, trot and lope.
  • Green horses of all ages are welcome
  • Please ensure your horse is safe among people and other horses
  • An up to date vaccination report is required for each horse.

Overnight stalls

  • Stall rentals are available for your horse for the fee of $15.00 plus HST per day.
  • Stall rentals includes hay, water, shavings and clean out once each day.

Outcome

All learning and education is at the level of the receiver.  It is important to know that it takes time to develop coordination and muscle skills, and it is also very important to practice and work with your horse regularly in order for you to succeed.  Russ Krachun Kozak Horsemanship is not responsible for the final results that you and your horse reach during or after the clinic.
